They go to their favorite search engine and type a description of the type of service or product they think they need, and get back a list of related domain names and they pick one of those, usually one from the first page of search results. The choice of which domain names appear on this first page has nothing to do with the choice, or typability of the domain name, mostly because from this point on, typing the domain name is not required. The actual choices that determine the appearance of your domain name on this first page of search results depends largly on the search engine design, but even more on your ability to anticipate which words or phrases visitors will think of when looking for what you have to offer.
